Reappointment of NHS Trust Chairman
|
Allan Munds has been re-appointed by the Health Minister as Chairman of the Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Trust for a two year period with effect from 1 November 2000. He has been Chairman of the Trust since it’s inception in April 1997, following the effective merger of the previous separate St Mary’s and Community Healthcare Trusts. He retired in 1994 after a long and varied career in airport management, his last post before retirement being Managing Director of Gatwick Airport. Shortly after this he developed an interest in healthcare, joining the Board of the St Mary’s Trust as a non-executive director in 1995 and becoming Chairman of the Isle of Wight Health Authority in 1996 for a brief period. Allan Munds says “I have been privileged to be so closely involved with such a crucial service as healthcare which is of such importance to the Island population. I believe we have made great strides in improving the quality and effectiveness of healthcare in the trust covering acute, mental health, community and ambulance services, and I look forward to serving the island in my capacity as Chairman for a further two years.”
