The St Mary’s League of Friends are purchasing a vehicle for transporting patients on the St Mary’s site. The League of Friends will be funding the total cost of £28,800 for a Fiat Ducato Master which has been fitted out with a stretcher, wheelchair restraints, lowering suspension and a ramp. The vehicle will be used for transporting patients who need to be moved on the hospital site i.e. a patient on a ward in the south block going to the X-Ray department, or from the main hospital to clinics in the south block. The vehicle will be officially handed over to the Isle of Wight Healthcare Trust on Tuesday, 23 July at 2.30 p.m. at the main entrance by Pat Ryall, Chairman of the League of Friends. Allan Munds, Chairman, of the NHS Trust expressed his appreciation of the League’s generosity. “The St Mary’s League of Friends are continually fund raising for the hospital and their achievements are remarkable. We are very grateful for all that they do for the hospital and the Trust.”
