Visit to the Island - Philippine Ambassador
|
Following an invitation by the Chairman of the Trust, we are pleased to announce the visit of the Philippine Ambassador Cesar B Bautista on Thursday 17 October 2002. During his visit the Ambassador will be meeting with the nurses recruited by the Trust from the Philippines. The first group of nurses, totalling 45, arrived in the Trust in November 2001 and are currently working as qualified nurses within the Trust. The second group of nurses, totalling 29, arrived in August 2002 and are currently undertaking an adaptation programme in order to become qualified nurses in this country. During his visit the Ambassador will be visiting wards at St Mary’s, meeting members of the recruitment team and spending time talking to the Philippine nurses themselves. The Trust wanted to invite the Ambassador to the Island to see how well the nurses have settled and adapted to working in this Country. The Trust also wanted to share with him the positive feedback received from staff, patients and visitors about the quality of care provided by the nurses. The Philippine nurses are looking forward to having the opportunity of meeting the Ambassador and they have all been invited to meet informally with him during the afternoon of the 17 October.
