Theatres Open Day

To celebrate our National Association of Theatre Nurse’s 40th anniversary, the Operating Theatres Department at St Mary’s Hospital is opening its doors to the public on 19th June 2004. This is to raise awareness of what happens under the Theatre spotlight.

There are over 4 million operations carried out annually in the UK, so almost 8% of the population visit Theatre every year and with the increase in keyhole surgery as well as day surgery, this number is increasing. Locally, last year a total of nearly 10,000 operations were performed at St Mary’s.

The open day on 19th June will take place between 11am until 3pm at the Conference Room, Level B, St Mary’s Hospital. There will be a display of various theatre instruments and hi-tech equipment as well as the opportunity to tour Theatre.

If you have ever been curious of the procedures in Theatre, then please come along and meet the staff who will be on hand to answer your queries.

The open day is open to everyone, and is one of many around the country being supported by the National Association of Theatre Nurses.
