CHIP’s

This week sees the second CHIP’s (Careers in Healthcare Induction Programme) being hosted by the Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Trust. 25 young people from five Island High Schools will attend the programme to learn first hand about careers in health.

The students will spend a week at St Mary’s Hospital and will visit wards and departments ranging from physiotherapy to pharmacy. They will also attend presentations on the roles of various health professionals, including the Chief Executive and the Director of Nursing.

The programme has been set up to raise awareness of the many career opportunities available within the NHS.

The five day programme will end with a presentation of certificates to the young people, who are aged between 15-16 years.
