Hospital Volunteer Car Driver Hangs Up Her Keys

Colleagues at the Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Trust have bid farewell to Volunteer Car Driver Jean Hull who after 30 years exemplary service with the Trust, has decided to retire.

Jean has played a vital role in the community, offering assistance and support to patients on the Island, many who have become isolated or are unable to leave their homes. During her time as Volunteer Hospital Car Driver she has driven approximately 250,000 miles on the Island, conveying on average 1,020 patients per month.

Jean has seen many changes in the Trust over the past 30 years but the car service has remained the same. Brian Martin, Control, PTS & Liaison Manager and his team would like to thank Jean for all her hard work and support to the Ambulance Service and the Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Trust. He said, “We will miss Jean’s good sense of humour, her cheerful and helpful disposition. We would all like to wish Jean a happy and healthy retirement”.

A small celebratory dinner was held with Jean, her family and colleagues to thank her for her dedicated service.

The car service is actively looking for new drivers and anyone wishing to find out more should contact Liz Prior, Car Service Co-ordinator on Tel. 534113.
