Under one roof
|
Following the official opening by Val Anderson, Chair of the PCT, we are delighted to announce the opening of our new Public Health centre here on the Isle of Wight. Under one roof we now have the four strands of Public Health - Health Promotion, Public Health, Health Protection and the Resource Centre. Health Promotion’s aim is to support people to make healthier choices in their lifestyles - including smoking cessation, encouraging physical activity, healthy eating, chronic disease management, falls and rehabilitation. Public Health aims to increase life expectancy and to maximise health and well-being. The Island’s Public Health team ensures local public health programmes are based on the very latest evidence. Health Protection – under a unique arrangement, the team works on the Island on behalf of the national Health Protection Agency. The Resource Centre includes such resources as: leaflets, teaching aids, overhead projectors and a library including different versions of the NHS directory and other resource material. The new Public Health centre is conveniently located in premises previously used by the Council at 46 Sea Street, Newport and is open for public and staff alike from 9am – 5pm.
