Problems with the telephone line into St Mary’s Hospital
03 March 2018

Problems with the telephone line into St Mary’s Hospital – 01983-822099 – are being investigated this morning.   Callers have reported that if they don’t know which extension they require and wait for the Switchboard operator to respond the line cuts off.  The Trust has alerted the company who provide telephone services to the Trust.

Callers who know which extension they require – press 1, input the ext. number and # - are not affected.   Callers who are still using the old Trust number 01983-524081 can still get through to the switchboard but because this is a single line callers may experience long delays.   111, 999, 2222, 3333, the Trust’s internal bleep system and Trust mobile phones are not affected by this issue.

We have asked all Wards and services who have patients, relatives or others who may contact them to ensure that those individuals know the extension number they should use to get through.

Shaun Stacey, Chief Operating Officer at Isle of Wight NHS Trust said: “We are investigating a problem with inbound calls to the Switchboard at St. Mary’s Hospital. We hope that this can be fixed as soon as possible. In the meantime we are contacting patients and relatives to let them know.”
