Children's Speech and Language Therapy

The Paediatric service is specifically set up to meet the needs of children and young people. We provide assessment, advice, training and therapy for children with Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN) from 0-19; we support their families and those who work with them. We also provide a service for children with eating and drinking difficulties.

Childrens Therapies

Children's Speech and Language Therapy Service Update;

We would like to thank all of the families that we work with for your support and patience over the course of the last year.

We would like to reassure you that the NHS children’s Speech and Language Therapy service is still available for support, advice and appointments.

We are working out which children are at the highest risk if therapy interventions are not provided.  This might be because of swallowing difficulties, or complex medical and communication needs.

We have been assessing the risks to all of the children we know and how we can best meet the clinical needs of as many children as possible.

We are beginning to be able to increase the number of face to face clinic appointments that we offer, and we will begin to slowly introduce school and pre-school visits in line with all regulations and guidance. We are also still offering online appointments and telephone consultations.

We are reviewing plans regularly to make sure it is safe for you, your child and our staff.

 If you would like to discuss your child’s progress with us, or if you would like to request any support or advice, please do get in touch with us on; 01983 534502 or iownt.childrensslt@nhs.net
