What to Bring

 Please remember to bring the following with you:

  • All medication you use at home in the ‘green medicine’ bag provided to you at Pre Assessment.  This helps us to understand what you are taking, that the labels show the correct instructions and that the medication is suitable for you to use during your visit.  Please ensure that the medicines are in the container or packets in which they were originally supplied. It is very important for patient safety that the hospital staff know what medication is being taken and if you have any medication allergies. Medicines might include:

                 - Tablets or capsules (including oral contraceptives)

                 - Liquids

                 - Creams and ointments

                 - Medicated shampoos

                 - Inhalers (puffers)

                 - Insulin

                 - Spray/tablets

                 - Eye drops or other eye preparations

                 - Any medicine you have brought from a pharmacy, supermarket or
                   herbal shop. 

  • Nightwear, dressing gown and slippers 
  • Comfortable daywear and underwear 
  • Toiletries – toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, deodorant, shaving kit and shampoo 
  • Sanitary products, such as tampons and towels, if required
  • Mobility aids normally used, such as walking frame, spectacles, crutches, stick, wheelchair or prosthesis 
  • Items of religious or spiritual importance 
  • Loose change for newspapers and the Hospital Entertainment System 
  • Something to read, a pen and notebook 
  • Tissues and wet wipes

What not to bring for your hospital stay 

  • Large amounts of cash or credit cards
  • Valuable or sentimental jewellery
  • Personal affects
  • TV and radio
  • Alcohol, tobacco and cigarettes
