Advanced life Support (ALS)

Facilitators:

Resuscitation Officers, other Resuscitation Council (UK) ALS instructors.


Target Audience:

Registered nurses, midwives, medical staff, ODA's/ODP's working in critical care areas (i.e. A&E, CCU, ITU & Theatres).


Requirements:

Course fee £300

Staff wishing to undertake this training MUST have recently attended an Adult Resuscitation course.

Pre-course reading material will be provided.

Staff are advised to wear comfortable clothing.

  • Recognition and management of the sick and deteriorating patient
  • Causes and prevention of cardiac arrest
  • Management of acute coronary syndromes
  • Airway management and ventilation
  • Cardiac monitoring and ECG recognition
  • Advanced Life Support (ALS) universal treatment algorithm
  • Defibrillation
  • Drugs and routes of delivery
  • Peri-arrest arrhythmia management and cardiac pacing
  • Post resuscitation care

Learning Outcomes:

This course provides participants with the essential knowledge and skills to manage adult patients in cardiac arrest and lead a resuscitation team.
