Welcome to the IOW NHS Trust, we are really looking forward to having you on placement. We know that you're going to want to get organised with travel and accommodation, and the links at the bottom of this page will be useful to you in terms of booking travel and accommodation. Contacting Your Placement Area
Please click on this link to access our practice placement profiles, here you will find all the relevant information for your placement. Let us know if there is anything we can do to improve or update this information. Please contact your placement area directly to discuss any placement requirements such as recommended reading, relevant policies, protocols or guidelines, learning opportunities and requesting shifts. |
Learning Induction
As a student you will be expected to attend both an organisation induction and a local induction of your placement area. The Clinical Education Team will email you to invite you to your student induction, please note the student induction will be in a virtual format using Microsoft Teams. We look forward to meeting you at your virtual induction and we hope that this will provide you with the opportunity to meet other learners and a member of our Clinical Education Team. |
Support During Clinical Placement
The placement area manager or their student link will allocate you a Practice Assessor (PA) and a Practice Supervisor (PS) for the duration of your placement. Resources to support your PA/PS can be found here. Remember to inform them if you are off sick and follow your universities normal process. The placement area manager and your PA/PS are always your first points of contact for support, however remember that the Clinical Education Team are here to support you too and can be contacted by email. iownt.ClinicalEducationTeam@nhs.net The Clinical Education Team have developed the Supporting in Learning Practice Toolkit (SLIP Toolkit) to help facilitate learning in clinical placement for both students and PA's/PS's. Learning Resources
Library Whilst on placement you will have access to our Library. During your induction you will have the opportunity to join. IT and e-Learning
Whilst on placement the Clinical Education Team will organise IT access for you to be able to use Trust computers. Access to other information systems used in Clinical Practice will be organised by your department manager. Our IT dept can be contacted by email: iow.ict@nhs.net |
How To Find Us/Getting Here
Ferry Travel There are 3 main ferry companies offering travel to the Island. Please see links below There is a good public transport network on the Island. The bus service is regular across the Island and offers student discount on production of your University ID badge.

You can apply for a student rate parking permit at a discounted rate. Application forms are available either when booking accommodation or by contacting iow@cp-plus.co.uk |
