The NHS Thames Valley and Wessex Leadership Academy is a local delivery partner of the NHS Leadership Academy, offering a range of events from one-day master classes to residential courses and distance learning.
They build on a well-established track record of proven success in leadership and organizational development activities. Successful leadership improves the performance of organizations. Nowhere is that more important than in the NHS where better performance actually saves lives. The NHS needs great leaders in all professions and at all levels.

Courses from Thames Valley and Wessex Leadership Academy
Mentoring for Leadership This two day workshop is the entry point to the NHS Thames Valley and Wessex Leadership Development Mentoring Scheme and is designed to equip you with the core skills of mentoring and introduce some of the tools that can be used to facilitate the mentoring process. All of our mentors will have access to skills and development workshops (CPD) events and on-line resources via the on-line mentoring register, this means that you can visibly champion your skills as a people developer in your current role and also demonstrate this capability for any future management and leadership role.
The Edward Jenner Programme - The Foundations of Leadership - This is your first port of call if you’re looking to build a strong foundation of leadership skills that can help enhance your confidence and competence in your role. The Edward Jenner programme is an open access, online learning package that will support you as you develop essential leadership skills; open to all, this programme leads to an NHS Leadership Academy award in Leadership Foundations.
The Mary Seacole Programme – Leading Care I is aimed at people who are in, or are thinking of applying (within a year or so) for their first formal leadership or team management position; you might be in a clinical or non-clinical role. You will need to have the support from your line manager to be eligible to apply and be able to attend all face-to-face workshop sessions.
The Elizabeth Garrett Anderson Programme is for people from a clinical or non-clinical background, who are aspiring to lead large complex projects, departments, services or systems of care that include leading other team leaders; or who are already leading teams of service leaders/ complex services and systems of care and have not had any formal leadership development; or who are a newly appointed clinical lead, or clinical director, who has not had formal leadership development training before and wants to improve their leadership practices.
