NICE Evidence: 
Search for guidelines and other material from NICE, government departments, professional bodies and major charities.  Includes British National Formulary and UK Medicines Information.


Healthtalk Online:

Structured collection of video and audio clips, illuminating patient experiences and opinions as well as giving overviews of many significant topics, from AIDS to Valvular heart disease.  There is a separate section for young people's health issues. Printable transcripts accompany the audiovisual material.

Patient UK: 
Use the Professional Reference section for introductory but detailed articles linked to UK guidelines.


AHP Resources: 
Four databases of selected and critically appraised journal literature for physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, and therapy for acquired brain injury.

Trip Database: 
Search multiple sources for a quick overview of journal and other literature on your selected topic. Filters on type of information, and can do simple and advanced searching.  Create your own account to save searches and selected documents. Includes timeline of work to ease document re-discovery and contribute to CPD record.


SCIE Social Care database: 
Search for articles within selected journals with relevance to social care (will not usually give access to full text). 


Pubmed: 
The open access version of Medline - covers a wide range of healthcare journals (but not all). Does not link to full text.

Dementia guide for carers and care providers:

Free electronic book available in several formats, containing information to support people diagnosed with dementia and their carers, with a focus on living well with dementia.  Information here.


Social Care TV:

Short videos covering topics of interest to social care, mental health, and healthcare staff.  Topics range from dementia care, looked after children moving into independent life, safeguarding adults and children, mental health topics, children of prisoners, avoiding unnecessary hospital admissions ... and more.  No password required.
