Books & Resources

The Library has around 4000 books in the physical collection, around 200 eBooks, Journals (available electronically), as well as some Games and DVDs.  We can also borrow books from other libraries in our network for our users.  ***Access to the collections is currently limited, please contact us to borrow items***
Oliveira Library users have access to several collections of Databases covering research in Medical, Clinical, Nursing, Psychiatric, Biomedical, Healthcare Administration and Public Health.
Trust Staff have access to several clinical decision making Tools, including; BMJ Best Practice and UpToDate.
Other electronic resources available include; Oxford Handbooks, BNF and BNFC and the Marsden Manual.  ** Please note we no longer have a subscription to DynaMed. **
e-Learning and Online Resources

Our eResources section is rapidly expanding as we adapt to new ways of working.  Please keep checking back as we are adding more resources all the time:

  • E-Learning: The resources collated here are for CPD purposes and personal interest
  • Mandatory Training: Information and Support for Isle of Wight NHS Staff to complete their mandatory training
  • E-Resources: Open Access resources and information aimed at medical and clinical health professionals and care staff
  • Study Skills: Information about our Library Study Skills training and support
  • Patient Health Information: Health Information and resources aimed at the general public and patients
Computer Rooms and Equipment
***Now Open*** The library has a dedicated computer and quiet study area in the education centre.  There is also the Cyber cafe in the main Hospital next to the full circle restaurant. (Please contact the Library for the Access Code).
We also have laptops, iPads and projectors available to loan.
