Who We Work With

As an Island community it is important that Isle of Wight NHS Trust, as the main provider of secondary healthcare services, works collaboratively with a number of local and regional organisations as well as developing a range of key strategic partnerships to ensure innovative,  efficient and clinically safe services. This includes:

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Integrated Care Board (ICB) – the principal commissioners of services for Islanders.

NHS England – who commission some specialised services for Islanders.

Isle of Wight Council including their Public Health Department – who we work closely with on the provision of a range of services including those under the My Life A Full Life programme with particular focus on long term conditions.

GPs – we work closely with Island GPs who refer patients into our services; we also work in partnership with Island GPs and the Lighthouse Medical Ltd.

Third Sector / voluntary organisations including Community Action IoW - who support us, patients and families in many areas.

Healthwatch is an independent consumer champion created to gather and represent the views of the public on health and social care. Healthwatch plays a role at both national and local level and will make sure that the views of the public and people who use services are taken into account.

Logica – our service partners for the development of the Integrated Service Information System (ISIS) on the Island.

Cross-Solent ferry operators – Hover travel, Red Funnel and Wightlink with whom we have negotiated discounts for patients and carers and arrangements for the smooth transfer of patients to and from the mainland.

Emergency Helicopter Providers – principally Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance and the Maritime and Coastguard agency - who use our helipad at St. Mary’s Hospital.

HMP Isle of Wight – for the provision of Prison Healthcare which from June 2013 has transferred to Harmoni 4 Health, part of Care UK.

The Trust continues to build close relationships with these and a variety of other stakeholders to improve services for patients.
