IOW NHS Trust Clinical Strategy

This important document describes how we aim to deliver healthcare in a radically different way than we do at the moment. We want to break down the boundaries that exist within the Isle of Wight NHS Trust so that we can improve the quality and efficiency of our services to meet the needs and expectations of current and future patients. We also want to break down the boundaries between us and our partner organisations, including the Isle of Wight Council and Primary Care providers, to develop a highly integrated model of Health and Social Care on the Island.

Over the next five years, the way we provide care will change drastically as we look after the needs of an increasingly elderly Island population with complex health issues. In the future, we will look after more patients who would currently be referred to St Mary’s Hospital in the community. This will be supported by an NHS leading, highly integrated IT system, which will provide new opportunities and better ways of working.

Our clinical vision for the next five years and beyond outlines how the NHS Trust will continues to supply the fullest range of services possible. However, these services must be of the highest quality and within a cost the local health economy can afford. The Clinical Strategy also explains how we hope to deliver these services more closely with our partners.
