Broadcasting to patients at St. Mary’s and beyond
Broadcasting to St. Mary's Hospital on the Isle of Wight 12 hours a day, 7 days a week, between noon and midnight Sunshine Radio provides a broad mix of programme content tailored to the needs of the patients at the hospital. The station is a Registered Charity (No. 263151) and a member of the national Hospital Broadcasting Association.
At present patients can hear our programmes free of charge via the Hospedia bedside terminals at St. Mary’s. We hope to extend our service to residential and nursing care homes and similar institutions and for patients receiving community care soon. Plans are being made for broadcasting via the Internet in the near future.
We have various roles for volunteers including collecting requests, helping patients use the bedside terminals, administration, programming, presenting and engineering.
