The IOW NHS Trust is urgently seeking accommodation for NHS professionals working on the Island.
From junior doctors on rotation to student nurses and healthcare professionals working away from home, local accommodation is really important to be able to support staff working on the frontline.
However, properties to rent are in high demand this year and the Island’s NHS is struggling to find accommodation for new staff moving to the Island and are having to consider other options such as Southampton and Portsmouth which is far from ideal.
Jackie Humphries, IOW NHS Trust Resourcing Manager said: “Throughout the year we support our staff and potential employees to find rental accommodation that is suitable and convenient for them but this year we are finding it really difficult to find any local accommodation which is a real issue, particularly for people who work shifts and need to stay close to the hospital.
“Last year we were incredibly lucky, and very grateful, to receive offers of accommodation from the tourism industry but with the Island now opening back up again, and local housing in high demand, it is a very different situation this year. We are hopeful that people will continue to support their local NHS in any way they can and consider offering their accommodation to NHS employees.”
The IOW NHS Trust is looking for a range of accommodation from rooms and small apartments to houses to accommodate families and preferably properties that are furnished. Accommodation in Newport or surrounding areas with good bus links is preferred but not essential.
