We are appealing to Island residents for help in easing the ongoing pressure on our services.
Steve Parker, Medical Director, said: “We continue to look at all our options and work with our partners across the Island and on the mainland to improve this situation. We have high numbers of patients who are not in need of hospital care, and we are asking the local community to help us with making sure that those patients get home or to the most appropriate care setting to support their ongoing needs as soon as possible.
“When we can discharge patients safely, it gives us more capacity to treat the increasing numbers of people that are coming into our emergency and urgent care departments every day with potentially life-threatening conditions and injuries.
“While we are in this period of sustained high demand, we also urge you not to attend the emergency department (ED) unless it’s an emergency: NHS 111 online can help you find where to get the right help and support.”
