A huge thank you to the Ventnor Lions Club charity who have very generously donated a new bladder scanner to Luccombe Ward, St Mary’s Hospital.
The scanner, worth approximately £7,000 was kindly presented to the ward by the Ventnor Lions president Phil Holland and Dick Walters, a member of Ventnor Lions Club for over 40 years.
Lucoombe Ward Sister, Heidi Meekins said: “We are incredibly grateful, this new equipment will make such a difference to patients and staff on the ward.
“Having this scanner will mean we can quickly check to see if a patient might be unable to empty their bladder. It will help to avoid unnecessary catheterisations as well as preventing patients suffering from further complications as a result.”
Phil Holland said: “We are delighted to be able to support the island’s NHS through these donations and knowing the difference it will make to patients.”
