Health and care leaders thank key workers for ‘phenomenal response’
26 June 2020

Leaders from the health, care, community and voluntary sectors have thanked key workers across the Isle of Wight for their ‘phenomenal response’ to the coronavirus pandemic.

The Isle of Wight Integrated Care Partnership (ICP) met on Wednesday 24 June to review the Island’s new Public Health Strategy and plans for supporting the health and care sectors as they recover from COVID-19.

The ICP is made up of senior leaders from the Island’s NHS Trust, Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), Council, Primary Care Networks, charities and community organisations.

Vaughan Thomas, Chairman of Isle of Wight Integrated Care Partnership (ICP) and Isle of Wight NHS Trust, said: “We have to recognise that our organisations have done a huge amount of work in difficult circumstances over the last few months.

“There has been a phenomenal response from key workers across the Island, people in health, in social care, community care and in the community and voluntary sectors that have given a huge amount to keep our community safe.

“We need to do everything we possibly can as leaders to ensure that we support their health and wellbeing, not just in times of crisis but also as we move forward and recover from COVID-19.”

The ICP adopted and discussed how it can support the recently published Public Health Strategy for the Isle of Wight, adopted by Isle of Wight Council last week. You can read the Public Health Strategy here.

The ICP oversees the delivery of the Isle of Wight Health and Care Plan, which was published in October 2019. You can find out more about the Isle of Wight Health and Care Plan here.
