We are contacting patients who are on St. Mary's Hospital waiting lists to confirm if they still require their hospital appointment or procedure.
As waiting lists for appointments and procedures across the NHS continue to grow, we are taking action to help reduce waiting times at St. Mary's Hospital by enabling a process that allows our patients to confirm whether they still require their appointment.
From Monday 23 October to Wednesday 8 November 2023, we will contact patients through text message, using a brief questionnaire to confirm their need for a scheduled procedure or appointment.
How we will contact you:
You will receive a text message from NHS IOW, which will contain a unique 4-digit PIN. The PIN, along with your date of birth, will enable you to complete a brief questionnaire about your upcoming appointment.
If we do not have a mobile telephone number recorded for you on our hospital system, we will send a letter in the post to you instead.
If you are on a waiting list and do not receive contact from us hospital during this time, please do not worry and no action is necessary.
Why it matters:
Completing the questionnaire will help reduce waiting lists by:
- Removing those who no longer require an appointment or procedure.
- Enabling a more efficient booking service by reducing administrative phone calls.
- Reducing the number of people who do not attend an appointment because they no longer require treatment.
