‘Thank you Chloe’
21 December 2019

8 year old Chloe Barnicoat surprised staff working at St. Mary’s Hospital today with a special delivery of chocolate treats.

Over the past few weeks Chloe has been on a Christmas mission to collect as many tubs of chocolates as possible to give to staff working at St. Mary’s over the Christmas period and today she delivered 101 tubs!

Chloe, who attends Nettlestone Primary School, called to her friends, family and neighbours for help and the word soon spread with lots of Islanders wanting to say thank you to staff working at Christmas for the care they give throughout the year to the Island community.

Chloe visited a number of wards and departments and hand delivered the treats along with a personal handwritten note thanking everyone for the amazing work they do, for saving people’s lives and for missing their own family at Christmas to care for others.

Alice Webster, Director of Nursing said: “I didn’t get to meet with Chloe today but I would like to say on behalf of all the staff at St Mary’s a big thank you!

“We are truly humbled by Chole’s thoughtful gesture; her personal handwritten note of thanks to staff is very meaningful and I know the chocolates will put a smile on many ward staff faces.

“To be this thoughtful and caring of others at such a young age is just beautiful; she would make a fine nurse!”
