We have been shortlisted for a Healthcare People Management Association (HPMA) award. This nomination is for delivery of a successful collaboration project with trade unions which has improved flexible working opportunities for all employees.

The human resources and trade union team worked together to redesign the flexible working policy from scratch, as well as developing a new manager training and support package which offers all new starters at the Trust flexible working from their first day.

Jay Chappell, Unison and Staff Side Lead: “We are incredibly proud to have been shortlisted for a HPMA award. This demonstrates the strong partnership working we have at our Trust and how we are committed to ensuring we are providing staff with the opportunity to have conversations around flexible working.”

Amy Rolf, People Partner, Isle of Wight NHS Trust said: “Being shortlisted for this award is fantastic recognition of what we have been able to achieve over the last few years through collaborative working.”

Sam Osbon, People Partner, Isle of Wight NHS Trust said: “Having an embedded partnership approach with our trade union colleagues is at the heart of everything we do. Our flexible working project is one of the many examples of how we work collaboratively within the Trust.

“Our Staff Side Chair has a seat at Trust Board and is a key member of several key sub-committees, which means we have built mutual trust and confidence which is key to co-designing and co-creating policy frameworks that benefit our patients and our people.”

The HPMA Excellence in People Awards recognises and celebrates the work of people professionals across the UK. The awards ceremony will be held in Leeds on Tuesday 19 September which is day one of the UK conference and exhibition.

The full shortlist can be found on the HPMA website.
