We have been awarded the Silver Award for the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme by the South East Reserve Forces’ Cadets’ Association (SERFCA).
The Silver Award for the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme is the latest achievement for our Trust as we work to support the armed forces community by providing care that meets their needs and supporting new and existing ex-armed forces employees.
Organisations are awarded with either a bronze, silver or gold award for pledging, demonstrating and advocating support to the defence and the armed forces community and aligning their values with the armed forces covenant.
Isle of Wight NHS Trust Medical Director, Steve Parker said:
“We are incredibly proud to have been awarded the Silver Award for the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme. This latest achievement recognises our commitment and work to become an armed forces and veteran personnel friendly employer.
“As one of the biggest employers on the island, and with over 15,000 people in our local veteran community (over 10% of the island’s population), it is important that we provide the right support to meet the specific needs of our community.”
As well as now having an established a network of champions, the team have worked with the Human Resources department to promote NHS employment for people leaving military life; and engaged with the local community and nearby groups through events.
We join 38 other organisations in winning the Silver Award across the South East region.
Colonel (Retd) Patrick Crowley MBE DL, Chief Executive at SERFCA adds “Huge congratulations to all 39 of the South East region Employer Recognition Scheme Silver award winners of 2023! Your commitment to Defence and our people is greatly appreciated and is of mutual benefit. Regular personnel, Reservists, Service Spouses, Veterans and the Cadets will all gain from your support. Thank you.”
