Project Fusion

Bringing together community, mental health and learning disability services

What are we doing?

We are working to bring together community, mental health and learning disability services across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight into a single, new NHS trust by April 2024.

Services will still be delivered locally, close to home by the same teams on the Island.

This work has been given a temporary name – Project Fusion.

Why are we doing it?

in January 2022, the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Integrated Care System commissioned an independent review of community, mental health and learning disability services across the area which made a number of recommendations.  This included a recommendation to bring services together within a single new NHS Trust, to help us ensure that everyone across the area has the same access to services, consistent care and the same chance of recovery, no matter where they live.

It will also help us ensure our services are sustainable as we work to meet the needs of our diverse and growing community.

Our staff will also stand to benefit from these changes with improved training and career development opportunities and reduced staffing vacancies as well as working in a more joined up way with services across the area, sharing the best of what we all do for the people we care for.

What does this mean for you?

From now until next April, we will be working to ensure that when we launch the new organisation, our services continue to operate safely and normally.  As people who use our services we expect that you will notice very little difference as we go live as a new NHS trust.  You will still see the same teams, in the same places and be able to access the same services and information.

Over time, we hope to make many more improvements to the services we provide, and we will continue to keep you informed as this work progresses.
