Assessment Process

If you are referred to the Isle of Wight Chronic Pain Service by your GP you will asked to complete a set of questionnaires. Once you have completed and returned your questionnaires to the pain service and this has been accepted, you will be invited to attend an assessment appointment at St. Mary’s Hospital as soon as possible however, we currently have a waiting list.

During this appointment you will meet with one or more members of the Chronic Pain Service Team to discuss your pain including treatments you have tried, any previous investigations you have had and the overall impact chronic pain is having on your life. You will also discuss possible treatments that the team can provide (see Chronic Pain Treatments Page).

From the assessment appointment a treatment plan will be created collaboratively between you and the team.

Important: If for any reason you cannot keep an appointment please do let us know as soon as possible so that other patients waiting to be seen can be appointed.
