Endoscopy

The Endoscopy Unit at St. Mary's Hospital is accredited by the national Joint Advisory Group known as JAG which monitors quality and performance ensuring the service meets all national standards in the provision of its services.

The service offers:

  •  Therapeutic endoscopy
  • Complex polypectomy
  • Dye spray techniques
  • Cancer surveillance
  • ERCPs
  • Gastroscopy
  • Colonoscopy
  • Bronchoscopy
  • Cystoscopy
  • Flexible Sigmoidoscopy

The Bowel Screening programme is also provided at the Endoscopy Unit. 

The Lead Clinician for the Endoscopy Unit is Dr Christopher Sheen. The Endoscopy patient lists are undertaken by Nurse Endoscopists, Consultant Physicians, Consultant General Surgeons, Consultant Urologist and Registrars.   A dedicated team of nurses support the patients and the clinicians throughout the procedure. The Clinical Manager for the unit is Sister Julie Parrack.
