Virtual hip and knee school part 1

My name is Clare-Louise and I am the Orthopaedic Nurse Specialist here at St Mary’s Hospital. I wish to extend a warm welcome and invite you watch the videos put together by the healthcare professionals who will be looking after you.

The videos are informal and provide information to support your upcoming admission to hospital and your discharge home. They are designed to provide you and your carers with information regarding the process involved in your admission to hospital, what will happen during your stay and how to ensure you and your home are ready for discharge.

Sarah, the Deputy Sister from Alverstone Ward talks about admission to hospital for your hip or knee operation, your hospital stay and discharge home.

Dr Kaminski, Consultant Anaesthetist, helps put your mind at ease about anaesthesia and pain relief during your stay.

Please also watch our virtual hip and knee school videos part 2

In addition to the videos there is also an information sheet than can be printed or downloaded, that covers post discharge information relating to your surgical wound management and who to call if you have any concerns.

We are all here to help you in your recovery, if you have any queries relating to the information in these videos please do not hesitate to contact us.
