Beacon Centre

The Beacon Health Centre provides a 7 day a week GP Led Walk In service from 8am to 8pm daily. You do not need to register with us. 

The Centre also provides an Out of Hours GP service when your own GP practice is closed.

To avoid a potentially long wait at the Beacon Health Centre, you are advised to firstly phone the non-urgent NHS advice line 111. In an emergency, call 999.

Night Time Service (Out of Hours)                                                        

Call 111. To access our Out of Hours Service from 8pm until 8am, every night of the week you should call the 111 telephone number. A Clinical Advisor will assist you towards the safest and most appropriate pathway for your care; for example an Ambulance response or Paramedic attendance, advice from a GP or if you are housebound there is a home visit facility.

As a general rule, here are a few useful hints for knowing when to seek urgent help:

  • Failure of usual medication or simple home treatments to work
  • Unpleasant or severe pain not responding to simple pain killers
  • Persistent and recent chest pain
  • Persistent and recent tummy pain
  • An unwell child especially under the age of 2yrs
  • A persistent high fever despite simple medications
  • Persistent diarrhea or vomiting
  • Recent or worsening symptoms over a few days
  • Shortness of breath especially if not able to speak in sentences
  • New rashes especially if developing rapidly
  • Recent confusion or unusual behavior
  • Acute mental health problems

When should I not use the Beacon Centre?

Emergencies:

In the case of emergencies or life threatening illnesses or injuries please call 999

Contact your own GP when you:

  • Need telephone advice or wish to request a home visit when your own Health Centre is open.
  • Need advice on a condition which is being managed by your own GP
  • Need routine test results
  • Need referral to specialties (e.g. hospital consultants)

Dental Problems:

  • For any dental problems please call 111.
