Seeing a GP

Commonly, primary care services provided by GP's focus on the management and treatment of common illnesses and long term conditions. GP's are able to offer advice on a wide range of topics such as: smoking, diet, blood pressure, exercise and vaccinations.

GP's are also able to offer some minor surgeries to help prevent a hospital admission.

Varying practice-to-practice, some GP's also offer specialist clinics within opening hours. To find out if a practice runs any of these clinics you sould contact them direct. These include:

    • Family Planning / Antenatal Clinic
    • Baby Clinic Smear Clinic
    • Asthma Clinic
    • COPD Clinic
    • Diabetic Clinic
    • Blood Pressure Clinic
    • Coronary Heart Disease
    • Stop Smoke Clinic
    • Travel Clinic
    • Sexual Health Drop-In Clinic

If you are unsure where to go for primary care treatment you can always call NHS 111 to find out more and ask advice.
