We are committed to caring for our local community whenever they need us.

Sometimes, it is the little added extras that make all the difference to the experience of our patients and that maintains the morale of our staff, and your support can help provide these.

Your donations support the health and wellbeing of our staff and volunteers and provide financial support to cover non-essential items that are not covered, or fully supported, by NHS funds.

People who use our local NHS services are our families, colleagues, neighbours, and friends. We are a close-knit community and that is what makes being part of the Island’s NHS a unique privilege.

We are so grateful to everyone who donates to, and fundraises, for our trust charity.

We would love to hear about your fundraising events, so please get in touch at: iownt.charity@nhs.net

Gift Aid is a government scheme which lets charities such as the IOW NHS Trust Charity reclaim basic rate tax paid on any money donated to them by UK taxpayers.

As a UK taxpayer you will pay tax on your earnings, savings or pensions, at either a basic rate of 20% or a higher rate of 40%. If you donate to charity, this donation will come from money that you have already paid tax on. As a charity, we can reclaim this tax back from the Government.

This means that if you donate £10, and use Gift Aid, it’s actually worth £12.50. And because this additional money comes to us straight from the government, not out of your pocket, it doesn’t cost you any more money.

The money that we claim back from HMRC as part of the Gift Aid scheme will be treated as unrestricted funds and used to support our general work, even if your original donation was made towards a specific project or ward.

How can I gift aid my donation?

If you donate online or set up a fundraising page, you will be prompted to complete the details needed for us to claim gift aid. You just need to complete these and the rest is left to us.

If you donate via cash on the ward, we can take the details needed then. We will need your full name and address, your declaration that you are a taxpayer and either your signature or a box ticked to confirm we have taken a verbal declaration.

We will then do everything else.

Find out about giving a gift in your will

Bank money you have fundraised for

Having a will is important to not only save money, time, and stress for your loved ones, but also to ensure that your wishes after you are gone can be respected and that your property and assets benefit people and causes you really care about.

We would always recommend that you speak to a qualified professional such as a solicitor, when making or amending your will, as it is easy to make a mistake and they can help to ensure your wishes are not left open to interpretation.

Your solicitor will be able to advise you on the required wording to carry out your wishes, and if you wish to leave a gift to IOW NHS Trust Charity in your will, all you need is our charity details below:

We appreciate every donation given to our charity, especially as it often comes as a result of your experience of our services.

Your donations support the health and wellbeing of staff and volunteers, alongside helping to provide those non-essential items that are not covered or fully supported by NHS funds, but make a huge difference to patients and their families.

Some examples of ways your donations could help:

  • £10 could pay for items to go in a memory box on our end-of-life ward.
  • £20 could pay for a mastectomy bra.
  • £50 could pay for arts and crafts supplies for the children’s ward.
  • £75 could pay for a wig for a patient following chemotherapy.
  • £150 could pay for a TV to provide some light relief for families of patients on our end-of-life ward.
  • £300 could pay for a parasol for our patient garden at the hospital.
  • £1,000 could pay for outdoor furniture for patients, families, volunteers, and staff to use.

Read more about how donations have supported projects on our Charity Facebook page.

If you already have a will and want to include a gift to our charity in it, there may not be a need to rewrite it.

You can ask a qualified professional such as a solicitor to add an amendment (called a codicil). Generally, if the change you wish to make is quite small or simple, you can use a codicil, and if the change is more significant or complex you should make a new will.

Leaving a gift in your will to our charity will ensure you leave a lasting, positive, legacy to support future generations of island residents.

Every single gift is important to the IOW NHS Trust Charity, and we appreciate anything you may choose to leave us after taking care of your loved ones. Whatever the value of your gift, it will be used carefully and responsibly to support patients, volunteers and staff.
