Our Patient Council was formed in 2005, and meets every six weeks to provide a patient perspective and to pursue or help address matters identified as important by patients.

Senior officers from the trust are also present at meetings to provide information, and follow up on any issues that are raised at meetings.

The Council assists in shaping strategies and new initiatives within the local health scene, and provides representatives to various committees. Members of the Patient Council are involved in other pieces of work as agreed with the trust to help in improving the quality of services.

All Patient Council members serve for a period of three years, although this term may be renewed by agreement between the member and the trust. A Chairman and Vice-Chairman are elected each year from the Patient Council membership.
