NICE (National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence) is the independent organisation responsible for providing national guidance on the promotion of good health and the prevention and treatment of ill health.

NICE guidance aims to ensure that promotion of good health and patient care in the NHS are in line with the best available evidence of clinical effectiveness and cost effectiveness.

The Trust has the responsibility for implementing NICE guidance in order to ensure patients receive the best and most appropriate treatment and that NHS resources are not wasted by inappropriate treatment.

Guidance can be viewed on the NICE website.
