Isle of Wight NHS Trust has launched its Delivering Excellence Awards 2026, inviting patients, families and members of the public to recognise the individuals and teams who make an exceptional difference every day.

The awards celebrate outstanding care, compassion and dedication across the Trust. This year, the award categories have been unified across Isle of Wight NHS Trust and Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust, reflecting shared values and a continued commitment to collaborative working and high-quality care.

One of the award categories, the People’s Choice Award, gives patients and families the opportunity to nominate an individual or team who delivered outstanding care or significantly improved their experience while using Trust services.

The impact of this award was highlighted by the 2024 IWT People’s Choice Award winners, Becky Craig and the ICU Team, who were nominated by a patient’s relative following the exceptional care they provided during a critical illness.

The nomination read: “My dad contracted Pneumococcal Meningitis and was admitted to the ICU. The team encouraged Dad to push himself and shared in all his successes - from something as simple as finally being able to lift his arm off the bed unaided, to breathing on his own. I could thank them all every day for the rest of my life and it still wouldn’t seem enough.”

Members of the public are now being encouraged to submit nominations for the 2026 People’s Choice Award. Nominations should include clear and detailed examples demonstrating how the individual or team reflects the Trust’s values and delivers excellence in care.
